Brat Tamer Contract: Rules Meant to Be Broken (Mostly)

A contract with a brat is a strange document, since half of it exists to be defied. That’s exactly why it helps. Writing down which rules are toys and which are real means your brat tamer can enjoy the chase without guessing, and your brat can misbehave knowing they won’t step on anything that actually matters. Keep the tone as silly as you like, and keep the serious sections serious. The contract generator will fill in the blanks for you.

Terms of engagement between brat's name (brat) and tamer's name (tamer)

Effective start date, or whenever brat's name stops pretending not to have read this. We’re two adults playing a game we both like. Nothing here is legally binding, least of all the threats.

Rules that exist to be broken

These are the toys. brat's name may defy them, argue about them, find loopholes in them, and roll their eyes at them: your rules

Rules that are real

These aren’t part of the game, and bratting about them doesn’t count as play: your hard limits

We’ll also leave the game alone when one of us is tired, sad, stressed, or arguing about something real. A real disagreement gets a real conversation, out of character.

tamer's name may choose from this list, and only from this list: your soft limits

Consequences are fun for both of us or they don’t happen. Nobody gets the silent treatment, nobody loses anything they actually care about, and tamer's name doesn’t get to invent new ones in the heat of the moment.

Who wins

tamer's name is allowed to lose sometimes, and to enjoy it. brat's name is allowed to give in, and to enjoy that even more. If either of us stops finding the game funny, we say so.

Stopping the game

your safeword stops everything, instantly, including the sass. your slow-down word means slow down and check in. These are never part of the game: brat's name doesn’t use them as a bluff, and tamer's name never treats them as one.

Afterward

However the round ended, we finish on the same side. We take time for: your aftercare. Gloating is allowed once everyone’s had some water.

Renegotiation

We’ll review these terms on review date, and brat's name will almost certainly propose amendments. Either of us can end this agreement at any time, for any reason, by saying so sincerely and in plain words.

Signed under protest by brat's name, and with a straight face by tamer's name, on start date.
